Rejuvenating the Users Page

UX Design & User Testing

FORT Robotics is an automation company that provides devices to organizations that helps reduce risk in agricultural and construction communities through smart devices.

This was my first project at FORT, during which I improved the visual design of the users page. FORT customers are usually other businesses and this page allows their administrators to see all the employees that exist in their org, what position they hold, and add/remove employees as needed.

Project goal & objective

Administrators need to be able to take inventory of all of the employees within their organization. An index of the employee’s information must feature their name, email, activity, and whether they have two-factor authentication enabled. This index should exist in the administrator’s view of their organization, and will give admin’s increased ability to keep track of their employees.

For this project, I decided that the simplest way to show all the users is through a table. Each row shows an employee’s profile picture, name, email, when they last logged into their account, and whether they had 2 Factor-Authentication on.

The administrator can add employee’s to this table by clicking on the plus button in the upper right corner and entering their email. Admins can also add multiple users at once and select multiple roles for them. In the example shown at bottom right, two users are being added and they both have the roles of Operator and Device Manager.

Feedback & findings

Visual and brand consistency

  • I received feedback to adjust spacing to align with other FORT Robotics webpages.

  • Colors in my initial designs were changed to align with FORT’s brand and color guidelines.

Reflections

Areas of improvement

  • This project was my first experience working with FORT Robotics. I learned a lot of new skills and concepts as a UI/UX designer, but I found it a bit hard to navigate professional design critiques and heuristic evaluations.

Final designs are shown above.
